Jill Schildhouse’s Bio

JillI am an award-winning writer and editor with 20 years of professional experience in both agency and corporate settings. The majority of my career has been in print publishing, where I’ve covered such topics as travel, beauty, automotive, healthcare, fitness, personal finance, food science, home and garden, and supply chain management.

I have also worked extensively in the digital and print marketing space, including creating content for websites, blogs, social media, SEO, brochures, brand stories, executive profiles, and other collateral.

Notable corporate roles include:

  • CVS Health: While serving as the Manager of the Marketing Communications department,  I led the team responsible for the development and implementation of Medicare communications for its PBM clients. I worked cross-functionally to develop innovative Medicare communications and marketing strategies that drove profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Apollo Education Group/University of Phoenix: As an Internal Communications Manager, I was tasked with crafting communications on behalf of various Cabinet members (executive deans, VPs, the president and the provost). From video script writing and staffing update emails to comprehensive communications strategies and intranet articles, my writing served to position my C-level executive clients as professional, genuine and experts in their fields.
  • AAA Arizona: I served as the Editor-in-Chief and Marketing Manager of AAA Arizona’s Highroads magazine, where I covered travel, automotive, member discounts and financial services topics. I also managed the Creative Services department, a team of designers and writers, the magazine’s social media strategy and content, and our weekly TV show.

As a freelance journalist, my bylines regularly appear in Reader’s Digest, Oxygen magazine, Montage magazine, Yahoo, MSN, Phoenix Home & Garden, Amazing Wellness magazine, The Arizona Republic, and more.

In addition, I hold a Corporate Communications degree, with an emphasis in Journalism-Public Relations, from Northern Illinois University.

In my spare time, I mentor freshmen at the Arizona State University Cronkite School of Journalism, enjoy Netflix binges with my toy schnauzer, and am passionate about traveling the world — 35 countries and counting!
